Laurie Rogers is the director of Young Artist Programs and the Head of Music Staff for Opera Saratoga in upstate New York. This season she will conduct LITTLE WOMEN at Simpson College, TROUBLE IN TAHITI at Carnegie Mellon University, AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS at the University of Alabama, and LUCREZIA BORGIA at the University of Delaware. Ms. Rogers served on the music staff and as assistant conductor at the Dallas Opera for five seasons. Recently she has also worked at the Canadian Opera Company, San Francisco Opera, Washington National Opera, Minnesota Opera, Atlanta Opera, North Carolina Opera, prepared the Studio Showcase Concert for the Houston Grand Opera, and served as music director for the recording of Opera America’s commissioned song cycle “Jeannette Rankin: Fierce Grace”, created by Ellen Reid, Laura Karpman, Laura Kaminsky, Kitty Brazelton, and Kimberly Reed.

As a conductor she has led productions for Opera Saratoga, the University of Alabama, Land of Enchantment Opera, Poor Richard’s Opera in Philadelphia, and also conducted Poulenc’s DIALOGUES OF THE CARMELITES at TX State University. Recently she has given master classes at the University of California/Santa Barbara, University of North Carolina/Greensboro, University of Tennessee/Chattanooga, the University of Delaware, the University of Alabama, and has given several master classes at the San Francisco Conservatory.

She served as assistant conductor for the Opera Company of Philadelphia over the course of 13 seasons, also working for many years in artistic administration for that company. The Greenwich, CT native is a New England Conservatory of Music alumna and has prepared productions for San Diego Opera, American Lyric Theater, Utah Opera, Green Mountain Opera, Arizona Opera, Opera New Jersey, Michigan Opera Theatre, Washington National Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, Boston Lyric Opera, Sarasota Opera, Pittsburgh Opera, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Glimmerglass Opera, and others.

Ms. Rogers has been a faculty member and conductor for The Professional Advantage vocal studies program in Mercatello sul Metauro, Italy; she has also taught at the Lake Placid Institute for the Arts, the Chautauqua Institution Voice School and the New England Conservatory Opera Department. She was integrally involved in the world premiere of Jake Heggie's MOBY-DICK for the Dallas Opera, including assistance in editing and preparation of the published piano-vocal score. She prepared subsequent productions of the opera in San Diego, Washington, Los Angeles (as Associate Conductor to Maestro James Conlon), and San Francisco (where it was recorded for DVD and broadcast as part of the PBS "Great Performances" series). Ms. Rogers adjudicates regularly for the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, has served as a panelist for Opera America’s Singer Training Forum and Career Blueprints seminar, as well as sitting on the Women Composers grant panel, and has been published in Classical Singer magazine.
